I wanted to show you a bit about why we produced our summer checking out program.
For me, it was because of my students.

Sometimes they were simply a little bit behind, in some cases they were method behind, and sometimes they were at grade level and just wanted to advance quicker.
Often this was due to the fact that the students had learning troubles like dyslexia and ADHD. Other times, this was simply because the instructors did not teach all of the specific skills needed to read.

The problem was that I was just able to see them for an hour at a time and just twice a week.

The program does take some participation from a parent for grades K-2, but for grades 3-8, many kids can do most activities in the program on their own.
